Use Client Testimonials To Give A Personal Edge To Your Marketing!
One of the best sources for information about what you or your business does best is your existing customers. Why do they use you and not a competitor? What is it about what you do that they like? What can you improve on? A client’s testimonial can be one of the best pieces of ammunition in your marketing arsenal. Why not ask them?
Sometimes the answers can be surprising. You might not have known that a loyal customer you’ve worked with for ten years came to you for your convenient location, but stayed because of your friendliness or ease to deal with. Wouldn’t it be great if your potential clients knew that too? Why not tell them?
One of the easiest ways to do this is with a client testimonial. If you’ve been in business for long, chances are you have a few customers who really like what you do or sell, and would never go anywhere else to get it. Ask them why. Better yet, ask them to do you a favor and write it down.
For example, when I noticed that a customer had used Printstars for a few different types of jobs from various organizations she was involved in AND started sending her friends to us for their work, I asked politely if she would mind writing a little something about why she likes us so much. Here is what she sent me:
I only use PRINTSTARS because they make you feel like you have a “friend in the business”!
No job has been too big nor too small, and they have handled all of my last minute glitches with professionalism and ease!
Thanks Guys!
Sincerely,
Terry Sheridan
Faced with the often impersonal world of corporate printing, you can bet a potential customer would love to see that they could have a friend in the business too! Terry has brought us school journals, invitations, design projects, and now she’s sending her small business owner friends to us when they need a printer, because she knows we’ll treat them right. And we love to tell people about this win-win success story!
This process doesn’t have to be difficult or awkward. Just ask them to jot down, in their own words (even in email, if it is more comfortable for them) what they like about your business so you could share it with others. Do this with a few customers from different walks of life or from different professions. Hopefully they will talk about a broad range of what you do.
Now, armed with these quotes, you have marketing gold! Start spending it wisely. Give it a place of prominence in brochures, sidebar it on your website, or do a mailing about your brand, and make the quote easily noticeable.
Chances are there are many businesses that do what you, and oftentimes a testimonial from a real, live person who knows and loves you can make all the difference in solidifying you in a prospect’s mind. Try using client testimonials in your next Printstars mailing, and you will marvel at your results!
